Why one insect leaves and another arrives
Plenty of people treat their cockroaches, find ants a month later, and then spiders on the balcony. It isn’t a coincidence. All of these insects use roughly the same ways in: floor drains, gaps around pipes, the crack under the front door and the edges of windows. Treating one insect kills it, but the route stays open for the next.
So a full pest control visit works on two things at once. The insects already there are treated, each with the product that suits it. The entry points get a barrier along the edges and in the drains, so anything coming in from outside meets the treatment before it reaches the kitchen.
In apartment buildings, the light well and shared drain pipes connect the flats. If your neighbour sprays every week, the insects escaping from their flat may end up in yours. That’s why a barrier at the entry points matters even if your home is spotless.
What the technician does, room by room
In the kitchen he concentrates on the spaces behind the fridge and cooker, under the sink and inside cupboard hinges, because that’s where cockroaches and ants live. In the bathroom he treats the drain, the area around the shower and under the basin, and checks for silverfish or insects coming up from the drains.
In the bedrooms and living areas he checks corners, behind wardrobes, carpets and skirting. If he finds signs of bed bugs he stops and tells you, because bed bug treatment needs different preparation. On the balcony and in the light well he treats the edges, cracks and any plants, since those are the main spots for spiders and crawling insects coming in from outside.
At the end he points out small fixes you can make: a drain that needs a cover, a torn window screen, or a gap next to the air conditioning pipe that needs sealing.
Not every pest has the same fix
What lets ordinary spraying down is that it uses the same spray for everything. The small cockroach needs gel, and heavy spraying makes it scatter. Ants need bait that reaches the colony, and spraying splits it. Mosquitoes and flies mean finding where they breed, whether that’s standing water or rubbish. A spraying service that goes from flat to flat with the same machine won’t tell one from another. And if you have a cat or dog and fleas or ticks appear, the home needs treating at the same time as your vet treats the animal.
We use several products in the same visit, each in its place. They are Ministry of Health approved, safe for children and pets when applied correctly, and mostly low-odour.
How to prepare before the technician arrives
You don’t need to turn the house upside down. Put any uncovered food from the worktop into the fridge or closed containers, and empty the cupboard under the sink so the technician can reach the pipes. If you keep birds or aquarium fish, tell him at the start so he can cover them or move them to another room during treatment, because they are more sensitive than cats and dogs.
If anyone at home has asthma or a chest allergy, let us know before the visit. We choose odourless products and tell you how long to air the room before using it.
Summer, ground floors and new flats
Insects in Egypt become more active with the heat, so most of our calls come between early spring and the end of summer. If you have your home treated once a year, do it before the heat arrives, not in the middle of it.
Ground floor flats and homes next to a garden or canal need more attention. So do newly finished flats in 6th of October, Sheikh Zayed and the Fifth Settlement, where pipes and cracks are often still open. Families with young children or pets usually prefer a regular programme with fixed visits instead of waiting for a problem to grow.
Call us or send photos of the insects you’re seeing on WhatsApp, and the technician will tell you whether you need a full visit or treatment for a single pest. Anywhere in Egypt, we can come the same day.
After the treatment: what to do
- For a few days, don't mop the edges and corners with bleach or strong disinfectant. Cleaning the middle of the room as usual is fine.
- Cover the floor drains at night, especially in the bathroom and on the balcony.
- Don't use insect spray near the gel and bait. It drives insects away from the treatment.
- Keep rubbish in a tied bag and take it out every day rather than leaving it overnight in the kitchen or on the balcony.
The price is set after the inspection
The price of general pest control depends on the size of the flat, the number of bathrooms and balconies, which pests are present and how far they've spread, and whether you need a single follow-up visit or a regular programme. We confirm the exact price before we start, and the inspection comes with no obligation.
After treatment you receive a guarantee certificate stating the period and the service, and if the problem returns within that period we come back at no extra cost.
