German Egypt Control: the guaranteed solution for your home and villa

Spider Control in Egypt: Stop the Webs Coming Back Every Week

You clear a web from the ceiling corner and a week later it's back in the same spot. That's because the spider is still there, its egg sacs are tucked into another corner, and the insects it eats keep arriving. We remove the webs and the eggs, treat the hiding places, and cut down the insects that make your home such a good place for spiders.

We remove webs and treat where spiders hide, along with the insects they eat.

Spot the problem early

Signs you have spiders

  • Webs in high ceiling corners, behind wardrobes and curtains, that return soon after you clear them.
  • Small white or brown egg sacs wrapped in silk in a corner or under a shelf.
  • Spiders with long, thin legs hanging in a corner of the bathroom or storeroom.
  • Lots of webs on the balcony railing, between plants or around garden lights.
  • Clouds of small insects around the lights at night. They are the food that brings spiders in.

Where we usually find them:

  • High corners
  • Behind furniture
  • Balcony and garden

How we get rid of spiders

  1. 1

    Finding where they live

We check high corners, behind furniture, storerooms, balconies and the garden. We try to identify the type of spider and look at which insects it is feeding on.

  2. 2

    Removing webs and egg sacs

We take down webs and egg sacs wherever we can reach them, because a single sac can release a large number of young spiders at once.

  3. 3

    Treating hiding places

We treat corners, cracks, window frames and the space behind furniture with a residual product, so any spider that walks across the treated surface dies.

  4. 4

    Treating the outside

For villas and houses with gardens, we treat the boundary wall, the facade and the area around outdoor lights, along with the insects the spiders hunt.

Why did spiders pick your home?

A spider doesn’t go looking for food in the kitchen the way a cockroach does. It’s a hunter. It settles somewhere quiet and waits for food to come to it, and that food is small insects: mosquitoes, flies, midges and moths. So if you have a lot of spiders, you very likely have a lot of small insects too, even if you haven’t noticed them.

Spiders like the places nobody touches: high ceiling corners, behind a wardrobe that never moves, under the stairs, storerooms, basements, shutter boxes and the corners of the balcony. In the garden they build between plants, along the wall and around the lights, because that’s where insects gather at night.

Egg sacs are a story of their own. The spider wraps its eggs in a silk sac and sticks it in a hidden corner. Left alone, one sac releases a crowd of young spiders all at once, which is why some people swear spiders seem to come out of the walls.

Spiders in Egypt: most are harmless

Here’s the good news for a lot of people: most spiders in Egyptian homes are not dangerous. The long-legged spider in the bathroom corner, the little jumping spider on the wall and the ones building webs on the balcony are unlikely to hurt you. They actually eat insects. A few on the balcony are no cause for alarm. A lot of them indoors, though, means there’s plenty of food for them, and that’s the problem we treat.

A few species do have a bite that can be painful or need a doctor. Near the desert and around farms you may also come across spiders, or spider-like creatures, you aren’t used to. The rule is simple: if a spider looks strange to you (shiny, large, or an unfamiliar colour), don’t handle it. Photograph it from a distance, send us the picture, and we’ll tell you how to deal with it.

The creature people in desert areas and farms call the camel spider isn’t a true spider and has no venom. It is fast and frightening to look at, though, and its bite can hurt, so don’t pick that one up either.

How we deal with spiders

We start with an inspection and try to identify the species, because that tells us where it hides. Then we remove webs and egg sacs from corners and high places we can reach. It looks like a small job, but removing one egg sac saves you a whole new batch of spiders.

Next we treat the hiding places: corners, cracks, window frames, behind furniture and under the stairs, using Ministry of Health approved residual products. For villas and houses with gardens we carry on outside, along the wall, the facade, the lights and the planting.

We also treat the small insects the spiders live on. Skip that step and you’ll be rid of today’s spiders, only for new ones to move in for the same food. German Egypt Control is licensed by the Ministry of Health and Population, licence no. 32.

Villas and compounds

In Fifth Settlement, Sheikh Zayed and 6th of October, villas next to the desert or empty plots see far more spiders than flats in central Cairo. Gardens, outdoor lighting, storerooms and garages give spiders everything they need. Here, treating the outside of the house often makes a bigger difference than treating the inside.

The same goes for offices and shops with glass fronts that stay lit at night. Insects collect on the glass, spiders build in the corners above the sign and around the floodlights, and customers notice.

When to call us

Call us if the webs come back every week however often you clean, if you find egg sacs, or if you see a spider you can’t identify in a child’s room. In storerooms and basements nobody has opened for months, don’t reach into dark corners or old boxes before switching on a light and looking carefully. Send us a photo on WhatsApp. Anywhere in Egypt, a technician can reach you the same day.

After the treatment: what to do

  • Don't wipe treated corners with water for a few days. If a new web appears, take it down with a vacuum cleaner rather than a cloth.
  • Use less outdoor lighting at night, or switch to yellow bulbs, so fewer of the insects spiders hunt gather around the house.
  • Tidy the storeroom and balcony and get rid of old cardboard boxes. Spiders like quiet places nobody disturbs.
  • Wear gloves when you move old things around in the storeroom or garden.

The price is set after the inspection

The cost of spider control depends on the size of the property, whether a garden, roof or basement also needs treating, how many webs and affected areas we find, and whether other insects need treatment at the same time. We confirm the exact price before we start, and the inspection comes with no obligation.

After treatment you receive a guarantee certificate stating the period and the service, and if the problem returns within that period we come back at no extra cost.

Questions we hear a lot

Spider control: frequently asked questions

We've gathered the questions we're asked most, with straight answers.

Still have a question?

Call or WhatsApp us and we'll answer right away.

Are the spiders in my house dangerous?

Most spiders in Egyptian homes are harmless to people, including the long-legged spider that hangs in corners and the small spider that jumps along walls. A few species do have a painful bite, or one that needs a doctor. If a spider looks unusual or unfamiliar, don't pick it up. Take a photo and send it to us.

Why do the webs come back after we clean them?

The spider is usually hiding right beside the web you removed, and it builds a new one within a day or two. Egg sacs in the corners also hatch more spiders. The bigger reason is that its food is still there, so we treat hiding places and small insects together. The web itself is the easy part.

A spider bit me. What should I do?

Wash the bite with soap and water and put a cold compress on it. Most bites cause mild redness that fades on its own. If the pain is severe or getting worse, or you have cramps, sweating, swelling or the skin changes colour, go to the nearest emergency department straight away. Take a photo of the spider if you can.

Are the products safe with children and pets in the house?

Yes. The products we use are approved by the Ministry of Health and are safe for children and pets when applied correctly, and most are low-odour. We treat corners, cracks, the space behind furniture and the outside of the property instead of spraying into the air. The technician will tell you about any simple precaution before leaving.
