Where do mosquitoes breed in your home?
Most people assume mosquitoes come from outside, from the canal or the garden next door. That does happen, but in many flats we find the source inside the home itself or somewhere in the building.
Only the female mosquito bites, and she needs standing water to lay her eggs. It doesn’t have to be much. A saucer under a plant pot, the AC drip tray, a bucket forgotten on the balcony, an old tyre on the roof or a blocked balcony drain is enough to produce a new batch roughly every week in summer. In older buildings, a basement flooded with drain water or a light well with dripping pipes can supply mosquitoes to the whole building.
That is why spraying inside the flat isn’t enough on its own. You kill what is flying today, and a few days later a new batch comes out of the same water.
The same goes for plug-in repellents and mosquito nets. They protect you while you sleep, which is useful, but they don’t reduce the mosquitoes breeding around you. Use them alongside treatment, not instead of it.
How we deal with mosquitoes
Here the inspection matters more than the treatment itself. The technician checks every place that might hold water: balconies, bathrooms, AC drainage, the roof, the light well and the garden if there is one. If he finds larvae, small wriggling worms just under the water’s surface, he has found the source.
Water that can be removed, we ask you to empty and turn the container upside down. Water that can’t, such as an underground tank, a drain, a neglected swimming pool or a leaking basement, we treat with a product that stops the larvae developing and flying. Then we treat the places mosquitoes rest during the day: dark walls, the undersides of balconies, dense planting and window frames. The product stays active on these surfaces for a while, so a mosquito that lands there before coming inside dies.
Our products are approved by the Ministry of Health and safe for children and pets when applied correctly. Most are odourless, so you don’t need to lock up the flat and leave. If the building has open tanks on the roof or a shared basement, it is better to treat them along with the flat, because that is where the whole building’s mosquitoes come from before they spread across the floors. German Egypt Control is licensed by the Ministry of Health and Population, licence no. 32.
Near the Nile and in compounds
If you live in Maadi, Zamalek or along the Corniche, or in a compound with artificial lakes and sprinkler irrigation in the Fifth Settlement or Sheikh Zayed, you will notice more mosquitoes than most. That open water is outside our control, and anyone who promises to stop Nile mosquitoes completely is overstating it.
What we do is shut down breeding sites inside your property and set a barrier on the facades and openings mosquitoes use to get in. You will feel the difference, especially when sitting out on the balcony or in the garden in the evening. In these areas we recommend follow-up through the summer, because the season is long and heat shortens the mosquito’s life cycle.
The same applies in the countryside and in houses next to a canal or a drain. Ground floors, and homes with an animal pen or water barrels, need closer attention to the standing water around them.
When to call us
The best time is when mosquitoes start to appear, before summer peaks. Numbers rise quickly with the heat, and each batch produces a bigger one. If you have found larvae in water at home and don’t know where they come from, or the whole building is complaining, an inspection will save you months of spraying that does nothing. If there is a newborn or an elderly person at home who suffers from the bites, don’t wait until it becomes a problem every summer.
Call us or send your area and the type of property (flat, villa, ground floor with a garden) on WhatsApp. Anywhere in Egypt, a technician can reach you the same day.
After the treatment: what to do
- Empty plant saucers, the AC drip tray and any buckets every few days. In hot weather a mosquito goes from egg to adult in about a week.
- Cover water tanks and barrels with a tight lid.
- Don't wash the treated balcony walls for a few days.
- A torn window screen lets in more mosquitoes than anything else, so repair it as soon as you notice it.
The price is set after the inspection
The price of mosquito control depends on the size of the property, whether a garden, roof or basement needs treating, how many breeding sites the technician finds, and whether you need follow-up visits through the summer. We confirm the exact price before we start, and the inspection comes with no obligation.
After treatment you receive a guarantee certificate stating the period and the service, and if the problem returns within that period we come back at no extra cost.
